I received an email today from Noah Scalin.  He said that my riffs are now officially on his Make Something 365 & Get Unstuck blog.  Wow.  That explains why I've been getting some views lately...  Thanks Noah for everything.

28.  Finally saw Le Mis today.  Great movie.  Did the play justice.  In honor of the French Revolution I've written this riff in "F."

Day 27.  As January winds down to a few more days, I'm happy to say that I'm almost 1/12 of the way done.

This one is longer than most of the recent ones, and is also more complex.  I had a very relaxing day, so I was inspired.

Day Nineteen.  My birthday jam session went over very well.  I think I'll be throwing another one in the summer when people aren't as busy with the flu and exams.  Tomorrow is my actual birthday.

Day ten!  We're in double digits!  The first marker.  The next being triple digits, of course.

Day Nine.  Almost double digits!  WOOHOO!!

Alto clef!  Yay!  This would sound pretty boss as a guitar/bass duet.  I left it sounding incomplete because I think that the melody would just repeat in a higher octave, then a singer would come in or something.  This definitely seems more like a rock head than anything else I've written.

This riff doesn't have a bass line.  I tried and tried to find something I like, but nothing sounded as good as this as a cadenza to me.  I think it'd be really cool for a song if after this the song ripped into the relative minor of the 4.  

Day 5

Phew!  Our homecoming dance was tonight and I was helping set up practically the entire portion of the day I was awake.  Almost didn't make it; finished with 8 min to spare!  Boo-yah!  I really like this one.  It's simple and elegant, and I would also say rather bubbly.

I've always wanted to write a 3-measure theme.  The secret, apparently, was 5/4 instead of 4/4.

Here's a more jazzy riff.  It's got potential for a ballad, I think.

So I'm going to start writing a riff every day starting January 1st 2013 and ending December 31 2013.  This was inspired by the Skull a Day Blog.  I really recommend checking it out: http://skulladay.blogspot.com.  Anyway, here we go.  Day one:
